If You Want To Stand Beside Me
If you want to stand beside me, then listen, open your heart, sit close by.
If you want to see me soar, hold my hands, let me unravel, let me cry.
Let me feel the oppressive weight of endless skies, of winds and storms,
Let me voice my thoughts, however sharp and swarming their forms.
Listen, just listen, to the ungrateful words I need to speak,
I seek to be heard, not advised; your guidance I do not seek.
My voice may tremble, my words may stumble,
Empathize with me; perfect understanding isn't what I rumble for.
Let me speak, let me cry, or do both as needs must,
Do not say it will pass, that it will be fine, just trust.
Acknowledge the grip it has on me, like hands tight on my neck,
See me when I'm weary, acknowledge when I'm a wreck.
Be patient with me, believe in me; I will rise strong and fierce in time,
Just stay, hold me close, through these trying climes.
Deep down, I glimpse a cluster of hope, dimly lit and veiled by fog,
Your presence, your open heart, is the key to clearing that smog.
So, if you truly want to stand by me, do this one important part:
Be fully here, with open heart; it’s what I need to heal and restart.
