In The Balance Of Us 

In the Balance of Us explores the inner negotiation between our own desires and our relationships, responsibilities and care for others.
 

Inspired by temple architecture, the work imagines our inner world as a layered structure shaped by desire, duty, fear, empathy, habit and expectation. Human figures suggest the different roles and impulses we carry within this negotiation.

At its centre is a quieter space of awareness, from which these different pulls can be observed.
 

The work reflects on what we hold on to, what we let go of, where we compromise, and what ultimately guides the choices we make.

The title In the Balance of Us refers to this space between the individual and the relationships that become part of our lives- the continuous balancing of the many forces within us when an “I” must also live as part of an “us.”
