Self Devotion

Self Devotion turns the gaze inward. Rather than depicting blind surrender, the work explores devotion as a conscious inward attention- where our impulses and inner movements are noticed, understood and reflected upon rather than followed unconsciously.
 

The orange teeka, inspired by the colour traditionally associated with Hanuman, represents devotion as inner strength, restraint and awareness. Here, devotion is not outward submission or self-erasure, but the willingness to look at oneself with attention and remain present with what is revealed.
