Embracing the Light came from a time when I was looking inward and trying to understand myself more deeply.
Embracing the Light came from a period when I found myself turning inward more deeply. The work grew from this inward journey- of becoming more aware of what I carry within me, understanding it, and gradually finding greater clarity.
The form is inspired by the Shiva Lingam and its association with creation, dissolution and renewal.
The Kali Yantra and Yali heads bring a certain fierceness and strength into the work. For me, Kali represents the courage to face what is within us rather than remain afraid of it. The closed scrolls, inspired by Tibetan traditions, came from the idea of trusting this inward journey even when we do not know where it will lead.
The work is ultimately about turning inward, seeing our fears and attachments more clearly, accepting what we find, and allowing that understanding to bring change. The ‘light’ in the work is this clarity- the possibility of seeing ourselves and what moves us towards clarity.
